Skilled Trades
Training Opportunities
The objective of the Skilled Trades training is to introduce the basics of construction at the entry level, as well as, to enhance existing industry skills. All of our Skills Trades courses can be found in the course catalog. Certifications, if any, will be awarded after successfully completing certain classes. Obtention of such skills will provide trainees with the ability to succeed in the construction industry or to make themselves marketable to companies seeking skilled employees. Areas of training include:
- Electrical
- Carpentry
- Plumbing
- Welding
Skills Trades Program
Each summer, we conduct the Skills Trades Program, which is designed for entry-level/skilled citizens seeking employment in the construction industry. This is a 6-week program, and students MUST commit to the entire 6-week program. Students must be at least 18 years of age and be a U.S. Citizen or have proof of legal residency.
Classes are from Monday - Thursday, 7:30am - 4:00pm and Friday from 7:30am - 3:30pm. Students are required to wear work attire to attend class. Students are NOT allowed to wear tank tops, or open-toe shoes to class. Students who do not comply will be excused from their class until the dress code is met.
